Bidding strategies

Recommendations
Strategies
1. Time
Choose your favourite sabbatical that you want to attend from the sabbatical course list. Refer to the calendar for the number of days available for sabbatical.
Term 1 - Week 10
Term 2 - Week 9
Term 3 - Week 10.
From previous years experiences, teachers day will land on Term 3 Week 10, and hence there will be a celebration day for teachers, hence, there will only be 3 days in Term 3 available for sabbatical. For Secondary 2s, an inter-disciplinary studies course will be conducted during Term 3 Week 10 and Secondary 1s will have the Secondary 1 Annual Camp during Term 1 Week 10 and will hence not attend the sabbatical. Students are advised to use their points adequately according to the number of sabbatical weeks available.

2. Ways of bidding
Choose at least 2 favourable sabbaticals each term. Chances are that a sabbatical that favours you are likely to be a cup of tea for someone else, and hence will be very popular. Choosing two sabbaticals to your liking will increase the chances of you not entering the sabbatical course you don't prefer.
3. Manipulation of points
Distribution of points are essential in the process of bidding. If you bid numbers in multiples of 100 or 50, chances are that many people will be having the same points as you. This means that many are likely to be on the same prioirity line as many others, this reduces the chances of you getting allocated to your first sabbatical choice. If you add an extra 2-3 points to your bid, your are getting more priority to your bid.

4. Distribution of points
Don't assume that you will get into your first choice all the time and since this is like an auction, points are only deducted for the course you are successfully allocated to. Hence, you are adviced to spread out your points in a decreasing order according to your favour.
